4 ICRT students get consultancy opportunities as part of their course through an International Finance Corporation (part of the World Bank Group) project to evaluate the sustainability of www.whl.travel a portal that promotes sustainable tourism travel amongst other products.
As part of a three year contract between ICRT and the IFC, four students are conducting studies under supervision of Xavier Font using their previous skills in a new context.
Clare Meredith is conducting quantitative analysis of the impact of sustainability on online bookings. Jenn Bobbin is using eye tracking technology to do an online buyer behaviour analysis, to test the significance of sustainaiblity in travel purchases. Rosie Head is visiting four countries in the Mekong to assess the suitability of sustainability claims, and how to make these more consumer focused and marketable. Katelijne Leanerts has already been advising travel agents in whl how to write sustainability text, and will now be part of a market readiness study in Zambia.
Involving these students in projects of this type is typical of our course's philosophy of promoting applied learning and providing industry opportunities.
