By Andreas
23rd June, 2009

Key players in the UK hospitality industry gathered yesterday at the Malmaison Charterhouse Square, London, to discuss current issues in Responsible Hospitality. The agenda-setting event covered a range of issues from the impact of the recession, to responsible leadership and policy interventions to greening the industry. ICRT is delighted to have convened the event and will be publishing more detailed outcomes shortly.

Key themes that were discussed during the open and frank roundtable event included:

  • The business case for Responsible Hospitality
  • Understanding the needs and wants of the hospitality consumer with regard to responsible business practices
  • The impact of the recession on responsible business practices
  • The scope of Responsible Hospitality (national/international, size of firm, sub-sector of the industry)
  • Redefining the hospitality business model
  • Legislating for Responsible Hospitality
  • How to raise awareness of Responsible Hospitality issues
  • The planning and design of responsible businesses
  • Moving beyond energy, waste and water
  • Sustainable supply chain management
  • Certification and standards

Watch this space for details of a more comprehensive publication of outcomes of the event that shall be published shortly.
