ICRT Conference 14th July: Responsible Tourism - Progress and Pitfalls
By Maria Alcahuz
29th June, 2009
Responsible tourism is becoming ever more mainstream both in theory and in practice and despite economic cycles the responsible tourism movement strengthens. The focus is now on demonstrating the difference between those who are exploiting the consumer demand for more responsible practices whilst doing very little or even nothing, and those who are really making a difference.
You are invited to the International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT) conference which will present the latest industry thinking on a broad range of issues that ICRT team members have been investigating over the last 12 months. Topics covered will include an assessment of the current balance between green marketing and 'greenwashing', what other industries can teach us about corporate responsibility and the role of volunteers in delivering community based tourism projects.
There will be opportunities for discussion as well as a networking session at the end of the day. The day will conclude with a student and alumni drinks reception during which we will have the opportunity to congratulate those students who are graduating with their masters the next day.
We look forward to seeing you on the 14 July.
