We have been at forefront of the development of responsible tourism in the UK and internationally. Harold Goodwin chairs the annual First Choice Responsible Tourism Awards presented at the World Travel Market and Responsible Tourism Advisor to the WTM on their World Responsible Tourism Day.
- Co-chaired the Cape Town Conference on Responsible Tourism in Destinations (a side-event at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in 2002) and drafted the declaration
- ICRT South Africa Continuing Professional Development course on Responsible Tourism Management for a group of 20 black HDI local government officers and consultants
- Advice and workshop presentations on Responsible Tourism and Hotels for International Finance Corporation
- Developed Responsible Tourism Policy for the Agha Khan Development Network
- Development and drafting of national Responsible Tourism Policy for the Gambian Responsible Tourism Partnership and Gambian Tourism Authority
- Responsible Tourism Policy Framework for Gauteng
- Advice on development of policy and sources of information for use by Federation of Tour Operators members
- Advice for the Development Bank of Southern Africa Guidelines for Responsible Tourism to inform investment decisions with the bank
- National Responsible Tourism Guidelines for South Africa. Providing technical assistance to the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT) on the development of sustainable tourism guidelines covering economic, social and environmental aspects of sustainability. Facilitated multi-stakeholder consultation process and drafted guidelines. Funded by DFID and DEAT
