ICRT Brazil

RTD6 – the 6th International Conference on Responsible Tourism in  Destinations was held in Sao Paulo in 2012 as a side event to the Rio+20 – there is a report of the conference online link

Brazil has a wide diversity of social, cultural and environmental elements, making it a major touristic destination in recent years. The fast economic growth registered in the first decade of the 2000’s has been changing life in the country and attracted the eyes for significant investments in tourism, including global events such as World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016.

The emergence of ICRT Brazil, in this scenery, is a response to connecting national efforts into an active network that undertakes academic research, encourages behaviour change among private stakeholders in this field, and advocates tourism authorities in the country must take their position for more responsible planning in the sector.

ICRT Brazil starts its activities in Brazil with the partnership of University of Brasília – UnB and other international prestigious institutions such as the U.S. Forest Service.
